My most popular recipe is also one of my simplest: Homemade Italian turkey sausage. This versatile spice blend makes a great zero point substitute for Italian Sausage. It is great in pasta and on pizza! If you've never made your own turkey sausage, you'd be surprised how easy it is; you probably have all the spices already in your pantry!

WHY MAKE HOMEMADE ITALIAN SAUSAGE INSTEAD OF BUYING?
Prepackaged Italian turkey sausage tends to have a few additives that you won't find in this blend. Some have sugar, many have higher fat content than what I'm looking for, most have preservatives, and others are even packaged in pork casings. It's cheaper too.

I like being able to buy or make my own ground turkey or chicken, and having this spice blend allows me to make my own turkey sausage in a more cost effective and "cleaner" way.

SOME OF MY FAVORITE WAYS TO USE THIS

This will be ground sausage, so it won't be in a casing. You can add crumbled turkey sausage to tons of recipes. I love having it for pasta, pizza, soups, and even omelets. Below you can find a few of my favorite ways to use it:
I usually make a big batch of the Italian Turkey Sausage on Sundays (or whenever I run out), and I freeze it to use for a variety of recipes on busy weekdays. I prefer to freeze it in 4oz. portions which you can top pizzas with (still frozen) and bake.

Did you ever try steaming the sausage that you would roll up in aluminum foil? Then you would have sausage "links" for sandwiches I have made seitan sausage that way
