Quick, healthy dinners: Dwardcooks eBook!
Like many of you, most nights I don’t want to spend all night in the kitchen: with work, the girls, and the millions of other things that need to be done, I try to keep dinners quick during the week. The quickest dinners are not always the healthiest, nor are they always the tastiest.
Traditional meal prep would have you make one big batch of meals and eat them through the week. That may be great for some people, but I personally cannot eat the same meal all week. My kids would revolt if I served the same dinner three nights in a row--especially if I cooked it all on Sunday.
I credit a lot of my success in my personal wellness journey to varied meal prep. I do big batch cooking like traditional meal prep, but instead of preparing all of my meals, I prepare components that I will use throughout the week.
Basing my meals for the week around 1-2 big batches of protein, I make a large batch (typically chicken or ground turkey) that I will use in different ways without repeating meals: same protein, different meals each night. I find that this way of cooking is easier and more sustainable for me because it gives me the ease of meal prep without the boredom of eating the same thing over and over again.
My cookbook is broken down a little differently from other cookbooks. This book is meant to get people who are not comfortable cooking to learn a few basic techniques that they can repurpose a bunch of different ways.
You’ll see that I have my book categorized into turkey burgers and meatballs, chicken prep, cooked chicken recipes, sauces and condiments, and biscuits. The turkey burgers and meatballs are great for novice chefs, and once you get the technique down, you’ll find plenty of variations that you will love.
The chicken prep section will show you different ways to prepare chicken, so you can use the cooked chicken in a variety of different ways throughout the week. The sauces and condiments really make meal prep successful, in my opinion.
These recipes offer different ways to reinvent meals throughout the week in tasty ways. The biscuits… well, I just love biscuits, and I believe they are an essential part of any meal plan.
A labor of love
This cookbook has been a labor of love, and the product of almost a full year of recipe testing, writing, editing, more cooking, and countless dishes. I am very proud of these recipes, and I hope you love them as much as I do. Thank you for supporting me, and thank you for sharing in this wonderful and tasty wellness journey with me.
